What is it?

Menopause is a physiological period in the life of all women conditioned by hormonal changes. It consists of the permanent cessation of menstruation and, therefore, indicates the end of the woman’s fertile life. Although the age may vary, it is from the age of 45 when it occurs most frequently. To consider that a woman reaches menopause, 12 months must pass without a menstrual period.

Women often notice the signs and symptoms of menopause without a formal diagnosis. In general, the first signs are changes in menstrual patterns and the appearance of hot flashes. However, the change of each body can manifest itself in different ways.

In menopause, the ovaries respond less to the hormones FSH and LH, so the body produces more of them to compensate. Around menopause, levels of estradiol and other hormones also decrease. That is why this study is ideal for the diagnosis of menopause.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms, including changes in menstruation, can vary between women. In the months or years leading up to menopause (perimenopause), you may experience these signs and symptoms:

• Irregular menstrual cycle
• Hot flushes
• Night sweats
• Humor changes
• Vaginal dryness
• Sleep problems
• Weight gain and slow metabolism

Who is it indicated for?

The menopause study is indicated for women at ages close to menopause who experience non-specific symptoms such as irregularity in menstrual cycles, hot flashes, sleep disorders… It is also indicated for women who, without being at the normal age of onset, suffer symptoms that could be due to an alteration in hormonal levels.
